Township administrator Mike Schuiling said the coordinated effort toward updating township facilities was the result of an assessment done in 2019. Trustees will revisit a third construction project, a new maintenance/roads facility to be built inside Liberty Park, in the coming weeks, Newell said. Both Newell and O’Brien credited input from the entire department in the design process. He said features of the new fire station would both improve response times and positively affect residents’ insurance rates. Newell said that having one company handle both projects, located almost directly across Liberty Road from each other, resulted in some “economies of scale” that helped keep the cost of the project within budget. Groundbreaking for that facility was done in January. Robertson also is building a new township hall in South Liberty Park near the YMCA. of Heath for $6,498,500 for construction of the new station. Township trustees voted 3-0 on March 23 to approve a contract with Robertson Construction Services Inc. “But with the growth of the township and the needs of a professional department, we needed to get this done.”Ī second station at 10150 Sawmill Parkway was added in 2004. “At the time, it made sense to combine the fire station and township hall,” trustee Bryan Newell said.
